Growing up in Muscat, Oman, Raazia discovered her love for writing at an early age. Her English teacher – who was famously hard to please – thought she had a gift. She would print her essays, make copies and distribute it to students.

As a teen, she won a few interschool essay contests, but her first foray into publishing came when she was visiting her grandparents in Pakistan.

There, one Sunday morning she discovered Young World on the doorstep: the children’s newspaper supplement by Dawn – Pakistan’s most widely circulated English paper.

Young World published her first story, The Peanut Boy, in 2011. Raazia was 17, which was not too old to jump up and down in her room holding her acceptance email.

rowing up in Muscat, Oman, Raazia discovered her love for writing at an early age.

While still in school, Raazia started a Comprehensive Writing diploma course with the Writers’ Bureau, UK. Then, when a classmate died in a tragic car crash, she wrote an article, Teenagers and Bereavement, which was published by Times of Oman’s popular THURSDAY magazine.

In 2013, she participated in a nationwide literary contest organized by Times of Oman. Raazia (then 19) submitted in the 18+ adult category. Her story Blue Book was named one of the ten honorary mentions of the contest.

Raazia holds a BA in English Language and Literature from Arab Open University (AOU) and an MA in English Literature from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM).

In addition to being a writer, Raazia runs Erudite Learning Academy, where she is an ESL teacher, IELTS instructor and academic editor. Her interests include playing basketball and swimming, reading books (and buying them!), taking pictures and learning new art forms.

Raazia has lived in Oman, Iraq and Iran – and currently resides in Islamabad, Pakistan. Much of her work is inspired by her lack of a permanent address.

Through her writing, she wants people to feel things and journey to places they might never get to experience otherwise.
